Aachen: Dutch team takes the lead

The Dutch four-in-hand team has taken the lead in the Nations Competition in Aachen. With the good dressage results of Theo Timmerman and Koos de Ronde in today’s dressage competition, the team of Harry de Ruyter is over 10 points ahead of the USA. Host nation Germany is currently in third position.

US-driver Chester Weber drove his wonderful team to victory again and was closely followed by Boyd Exell.

“Theo drove a good and decent test today,” says De Ruyter. “His horses showed a lot of schwung.” Timmerman came third again today and Koos de Ronde came fourth. Third team member IJsbrand Chardon competes in Aachen without three of his top horses, which are injured. The four-times World Champion put down the discard score for one of there very first times in his career.

Wednesday’s dressage results counted towards the individual classification and today’s dressage counted for the team classification. Individual competitors like Boyd Exell have to compete as well; they are only able to win prize money.
