Ermelo: movement on the single horse leaderboard

Saskia Siebers held on to her leading position after the marathon today, creating a seven point lead between her and countryman Frank van de Vegt in second place. Siebers drove a controlled marathon and let everyone see that her horse Axel was not the least bit tired as she set down the fastest time in the last obstacle with ease.

The French marathon specialist Benoit Venay won the marathon with his horse Rolling Stone. The heavy footing in the obstacles and on the course was a challenge for the single horses and ponies. A number of horses came up short on condition. Wim Warmehoven and Frank van der Vegt both drove strong marathons moving them up the leaderboard to fourth and second place respectively. Swedens Karin Söderqvist with her unique Swedish cold blood Lukas moved up to third place and Leonne van Gestel and Anniek Schuiling round out the top six.

Obstacle 6 was not only heavy, but tricky as well. The D gate was placed beside the finish and if not careful the horses had the tendancy to head to the finish missing the gate. This was unfortunately the case for Piet de Ronde, Vilmos Jambor (Hungary) and Pierre André Bracelli (Switzerland)
