Exloo: Sunshine after rain

Today's programme at the CAI2* Exloo included the second half of the singles as well as the horse pairs, horse fours and para drivers. After a cold and wet start, the sun came through in the afternoon and nice dressage tests could be enjoyed.

Dutch Champion Saskia Siebers drove her Axel to victory in the single horse class and this dropped Frank van der Vegt to the second place. Canada’s Kelly Houtappels-Bruder finished in third position.

None of the starters today were able to beat Sandra Schäfer’s score with Carino S on Thursday and she was declared winner of the dressage in the single pony class. Marissa Schuiling beat Sven Tinlot and finished in second place ahead of the Belgian driver with his nice Haflinger pony.

Frenchman Franck Grimonprez caused a pleasant surprise by taking the lead in the horse pairs class. Trained by Michael Freund, Grimonprez scored three points higher than his compatriot Michael Sellier. Great Britain’s Tara Wilkinson drove Owen Pilling’s chestnut pair to the third place, ahead of Amely von Buchholtz from Argentina and Lars Schwitte from Germany.

Bram Chardon won the dressage with a score of 46,23 points and is in the lead of the four-in-hand class, ahead of IJsbrand Chardon and Sebastien Vincent from France.

The marathon includes six nice obstacles, designed by German level 4 Course Designer Josef Middendorf. All obstacles, including the spectacular water obstacle, are situated on the main show grounds and can easily be followed by the spectators, who have free admission.
