The Belgian driving commission has put forward international pair driver Filip Kindt as their Driving Manager. Kindt will take over for Fraçoise Thiry who stepped down from the function at the end of 2017.

Kindt lives in Welden, Belgium and has been actively competing in the sport since 1999 with a pair of Lipizzaners. Kindt has represented Belgium at a number of World Championships including Kecskemét 2009, Topolcianky 2013 and Lipica 2017. Professionally Kindt works in the international lumber trade and does a lot of traveling for his job.

As his first priority, Filip Kindt will be focusing on preparations for the World Single Driving Championships in Kronenberg: “We don’t have a lot of time, so the only way to make some quick progress is to test the athletes. That way we can quickly see who the candidates are going to be, and will hopefully make the choice for the team easier. I have spoken to Françoise Thiry and Félix-Marie Brasseur who have updated me on the training in Gesves. Within three days we will be making the selection for the CAI3* in Kronenberg in April, in two weeks there will be a training session and a veterinary inspection will have for all of the horses will have to take place. There is a lot to do.”

Pony’s zoeken manager

Jan Devaere, chairman of the Belgian driving commission: “After the single horses, the pair horses have the World Championships in 2019 on the program. They luckily have more time to make a plan. This year Filip Kindt will have the chance to develop himself as team manager. We want the pony drivers to also have good leadership, and will be looking for someone to step up and fill that position.” Devaere hopes to provide more information over that in the near future.
