The Lipica Stud would like to host the World Championships from 22 to 25 September 2011. This year, Lipica organises their regular CAI-A for singles, pairs and four-in-hands, horses and ponies from 30 September to 3 October.

The Slovenian National Federation and the Lipica Stud are currently preparing a special presentation for the FEI Driving Committee meeting in May in Windsor to support their candidacy.

The Stud at Lipica lies in a green oasis in the picturesque Karstland, under the blue Mediterranean sky, very close to Italy; it is the cradle of all Lipizzaner Horses throughout the world. The Stud was founded in 1580 – and is therefore the oldest Horse Stud of the world.

Today the Stud at Lipica is one of the greatest cultural-historical monuments in the Republic of Slovenia and the horse culture of the world. For more than four centuries the Stud of Lipica has maintained the tradition of breeding and selection of the pedigree Lipizzaner Horse. After the Second World War Lipica founded its own classical riding academy with which it presents itself today, successful in numerous international activities.
Especially in the sport of Driving Lipica is very active – this marvellous Stud is a regular meeting place for the international driving scene - in international and national Driving Events and driving sport seminars.
Today the oldest Stud in the world - Lipica - presents itself as a sports centre and leisure centre, one offers relaxation and activity in the untouched Karst nature to the guests at the same time. Beside the fascination of the Lipizzaner one finds in Lipica two hotels with indoor swimming pools, hotel Maestoso as well as the club hotel, sauna, fitness, entertainment rooms and meeting rooms, a golf course which is playable all year round, tennis courts, mini-golf and a casino. Everything for relaxation and pleasure in hospitable surroundings.
