Horst: Van den Broek currently in the lead

On this beautiful spring afternoon the huge combined driving event in Horst aan de Maas has begun. With the large number of horses competiting this weekend it was quite impressive that all horses came through the vet check without problems today.

With over sixty competitors, the international single horse division is by far the largest of the competition. Twenty competitors drove their dressage today with the balance driving tomorrow. Reigning World Champion Wilbrord van den Broek was back in the ring for the first time after an extended break and went directly into the lead with a score of 46,41. 'He felt great', tells Van den Broek. Dutch Champion Saskia Siebers with her horse Axel is at this moment in second place with 48,43 penalty points.

Tomorrow in addition to the balance of the single horse class, the para drivers, and the rest of the class 4 divisions complete the overflowing dressage program. The main ring is reserved for the pair and four-in-hands, where the four-in-hand horses will not only be competing tomorrow afternoon in the international competition but also for the Dutch national title.
