Izsák: Dutch drivers dominate the dressage

The very successful Dutch four-in-hand drivers have dominated the dressage competition today at the European Championships in Izsák. Dutch Champion Theo Timmerman took the first place, IJsbrand Chardon finished second and Koos de Ronde came third.

Where Izsák was covered in sunshine yesterday, the temperature was much lower today, but ideal weather for the horses.

Double World Champion Zoltán Lázár drove his team of Lipizzaner horses to the fourth place, ahead of Sweden’s Tomas Eriksson and the only lady driver Mareike Harm from Germany, who is member of the German nations team at a four-in-hand championship for the first time in her career.

The Dutch team is in the lead in the nations competition with 15 points lead to host nation Hungary and Germany.
The 35 competitors are facing a nice, but technically heavy marathon tomorrow with eight obstacles, designed by the Hungarian course designer Gábor Fintha, a former four-in-hand driver himself.
