Salteras: The Dressage winners

The dressage of the CAI2* and Andalusian Championships in Salteras started this morning with a nice cool breeze. The 25 competitors entered the well-prepared dressage arena, which has a grand view over Seville and the international Ground Jury members all judged equally, which resulted in fair scores.

The single horses were first to start and Joaquin Rodriguez performed the best, driving his 8-year-old grey Spanish horse. They set a score of 56,64 and stayed ahead of Ana Muñoz with Sunny Boy W (58,72) and Marcelo Torrecillas, driving Animo (60,11).

Daniel Gutierrez drove the pair of German bred horses owned by his brother, organiser Miguel Gutierrez, who was replaced by Francisco Colmenero in the Ground Jury during this class. Despite the fact that Daniel, who competed at World Championship level before, has not had the time to practise much with this pair, he won with a score of 47,23. Jose Gayan finished in second position, ahead of Oliver Lange, son of the deceased international judge Jochen Lange Brantenaar.

Making his return on the international circuit, Ernesto Colman drove a good test with his team of mixed warm blood geldings and was unanimously awarded with the first place by all five jury members. His former employee Juan Real Garcia drove a team of horses owned by his current employer Antonio Carrillo to the second position. Llibert Calvet finished in third place. Carrillo had to withdraw before the dressage because he was injured.

Daniel Pineda took the first and the third place in the dressage of the Benjamin Class, leaving Marina Rodriguez to take the second place.

Tomorrow’s marathon includes seven nice obstacles, designed by Level 2 Course Designer Vilmos Jámbor from Hungary.
