New Paard&Koets exceeds all expectations

The revived Paard&Koets (Horse & Carriage Fair) that took place this past weekend at the National Equine Centre in Ermelo, the Netherlands exceeded all expectations.  After a year off the calendar, over 11,000 carriage driving enthousiasts gathered at the new accomodation and it was obvious that everyone enjoyedthe event. The organization of Paard&Koets was taken over at the beginning of the year by Academy Events who with their hard work have secured the future of this 32 year old event.

Visitors were extremely positive over the varied program and the busy trade fair which hosted numerous driving related booths. The program featured many impressive names, such as World Champion Boyd Exell, Mieke van Tergouw, Gerard Leijten, Tjeerd Velstra, Glenn Geerts, Martin Hölle, Koos de Ronde en Bram Chardon. The mini-marathon for the young drivers on Saturday was won by Maud Jasperse (single) and Daniëlle van Tuijl (pair). Saturday also featured the Pavo Masterclass for dutch harness horses, where Derk Jan Mekkes took home top prize.  On Sunday the 'Battle of the Breeds' was driven where the Welsh ponies of Melanie van de Bunt were the fastest. Between shows and demonstrations spectators could walk in the trade fair and of course meet and greet other carriage drivers and enthousiasts.
