International competition in Exloo expecting representatives from 11 Nations

The grounds of the Exloo Equestrian Centre (Hippisch Centrum Exloo) will play host to their fourth international driving competition 26-29 March. Over 90 competitors from 11 different nations will come into action over the four days in the disciplines of dressage, marathon and cones.

From Australia to Sweden

Drivers from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Norway, Sweden, and of course the Netherlands will travel to make camp in the north of the Netherlands.

This year is an important year for the four-in-hand horses, the single horses and para-drivers, and that is reflected in the number of entries. For these divisions there is a World Championship on the calendar, and Exloo will be an important competition in their season leading up to it. This is the first opportunity after the winter for horses and ponies to be presented again in front of the international judges, and for the drivers to fine-tune their strategy for the rest of the season. The competition in Exloo is also used by drivers to earn valuable qualifications to meet the criteria set forth by their national federations.

Program

The competition will begin Thursday morning with the veterinary inspection, and the first dressage competitors will drive their tests Thursday afternoon. The remaining competitors will drive their dressage on Friday. On Saturday all competitors will come into action in the spectacular marathon with six obstacles designed by the Swiss course designer Michael Mayer and the Netherlands own Arjan Kleinjan, both who will be under the watchful eye of World Championship course designer Josef Middendorf from Germany. The six obstacles are all located centrally on the grounds in Exloo and over the last months a lot of work has been done to bring the obstacles up to optimal condition for the competition.

The competition closes Sunday with the cones, which will be divided between two rings. At the end of the day the winners of the fourth edition of the international competition in Exloo will be named!

Entry and parking is free for the entire competition.
