Aachen: The Netherlands dominate team competition

The second day of the prestigious CHIO saw the team dressage test driven under the sunny skies of Aachen.  The Dutch drivers made a strong showing and have chiseled out a decisive lead in the team event. 

Chester Weber (USA) was once again the winner of todays dressage, with Theo Timmerman (NL) and Boyd Exell (AUS) both nipping at his heels.  With less than 1.5 points separating the three drivers, it was a treat for spectators to watch the sport being preformed at the highest level.

IJsbrand Chardon drove a strong test finishing 4th and in addition to the 9th place finish of Koos de Ronde, The Netherlands has firmly estblaished a 13 point lead in the team competition in front of hosting nation Germany.

Tomorrow, Friday, the program consists of the individual cones and the Jump & Drive.  The marathon is in the planning for Saturday where the eight obstacles will be driven in a forcasted temperature of 31 degrees.  The competition closes Sunday with the team cones competition.
