Baborówko: Boyd Exell and Torsten Koalick in the lead

The first day of the international driving competition in Baborówko is over. Twenty pairs and sixteen Four-in-Hands performed their dressage tests today. Boyd Exell and Torsten Koalick are in the lead.

Boyd Exell, who is currently first at the FEI World Ranking, drove the best result of the day with his score of 32.86 penalty points. He left Anna Sandmann just under ten points behind. She scored 42.38 penalty points. Her dad Christoph Sandmann is now at third place with the score of 50.71. The best Polish driver today was Wiesław Sadowski. He finished seventh and thus leads the Polish championship.

In the pairs, the entire top three is German, followed by Rens Egberink (NED) in fourth place. The differences in the top four are small. Torsten Koalick managed to achieve the best score with 47.29 penalty points. Carola Slater-Diener is second with 50.86 and Sandro Koalick completes the podium with 50.94 penalty points. Rens Egberink fits in well with his score of 51.09 penalty points. It promises to be an exciting battle in the marathon tomorrow.

“We saw some great tests today. Tomorrow is the marathon and that promises to be an exciting battle, especially in the CAIO-H2. We can’t wait!” said Henryk Jan Święcicki, the director of the competition.

The pairs will start tomorrow at 10:30 AM and the four-in-hands will start at 1:15 PM.
