Beekbergen: Hölle and Exell dominate

Todays program closed with the cones. Both Martin Hölle and Boyd Exell who had substantial leads after the marathon managed to win both of their divisions with plenty of room to spare.

Pair Horses

The winning cones drive went to Germany’s Stefan Schotmüller. Of the three double clear rounds, his was the fastest. Martin Hölle ticked off a ball in the oxer as well as in the following gate, but his lead in the class was big enough that there was no danger in losing his first place finish. Lars Schwitte also booked a double clear round and as a result finished second.

Beekbergen was an important competition for the Dutch pair drivers as it was the final selection before the World Championships that are being held September 20-24 this year in Lipica, Slovenia. Team Coach Harry de Ruyter will be announcing his team selection this coming week.

Vierspannen

After a fantastic marathon yesterday where he finished second, Peter de Ronde (NL) won the cones today. Finishing behind De Ronde all with double clear rounds were Bram Chardon, Glenn Geerts and Boyd Exell. The top three placings from yesterday remained unchanged, though Chester Weber did cause some excitement after knocking down three balls, but that was luckily still just enough to hold on to his second place finish. Exell closed the show with a double clear round cementing his overall win.
