Budapest: Dobrovitz family dominate

The Dobrovitz Family dominated the first competition of the FEI World Cup™ Driving competition this afternoon in Budapest. József Dobrovitz won, ahead of IJsbrand Chardon who competed as usual with Dobrovitz’ former team of Lipizzaner horses, and wild card driver József Dobrovitz jr.

József Dobrovitz set the best score in the first round of the technical course, designed by the famous World Championship course designer Gábor Fintha. His 22-year old son József Dobrovitz jr. was the only driver with a clear round, which he cleverly repeated in the second round which took place over the same course.

IJsbrand Chardon lost the necessary speed in the marathon obstacles and had three knock downs in the first round, but took revenge in the second round by putting down the fastest time of the day in a clear round. This was not enough however for the first place as Dobrovitz put down two very good rounds in the Lászlo Papp Arena.

Koos de Ronde started for the first time in the World Cup with his new bay indoor team and made some mistakes in the first round, but made up for it in the second round. German drivers Christoph Sandmann and Georg von Stein finished on the fifth and sixth place. Dobrovitz’ cousin Mark Osztertág was the second wild card driver and he finished on the seventh place.
The FEI World Cup™ Driving competition in Budapest is scheduled tomorrow at 14.00 hrs. And will be broadcast live on www.feitv.org.
