Drebkau 2019: Sebastian Warneck in the lead at the close of Day 1

41 pairs of horses entered the ring on this first day of dressage at the World Championships for pair horses in Drebkau. Just three drivers managed to score under 50 penalty points. The German driver Sebastian Warneck was early to drive and still holds the lead with 47,25 penalty points.

Warneck, the reigning silver medalist drove before a home crowd with his pair of KWPN horses Balos and Beat me Okydo. He drove a consistant test and even received a 10 for overall impression from Spanish judge Medina. Jozsef Dobrovitz jr. also drove a strong test scoring under 50 penalty points. With a score of 48,51 he now holds the second position and has put down a great score for the Hungarian team who are on course to prolonging their World title. Currently sitting in third is a German individual driver Stefan Schottmüller with 49,31 penalty points.

Tomorrow will see the second half of the competitors field enter the dressage ring, with among them reigning champ Martin Hölle.
