Exloo candidate European Championship four-in-hand 2023

Equestrian Center Exloo has applied for the organization of the European Four-in-hand Championships in 2023. The intended date is 23 to 27 August 2023. This date is coordinated with the organization of the World Pony Driving Championship in Oirschot, which will be held a week later.

The FEI also recently reopened the bidding procedure for the Paradriving World Championship. Since there were no candidates for the organization of this championship in 2022, the FEI organizing committees offer the opportunity to organize this World Championship in 2023. Exloo has indicated that it will also register with the FEI for this World Championship, so that the European Four-in-hand Championship and the World Championship Paradriving can be held simultaneously on the grounds of Equestrian Center Exloo.

“A few years ago we successfully revived the annual international driving competition in Exloo. This competition is an important event on the Equestrian Center Exloo calendar. We want to grow and we already have a number of FEI championships in other disciplines to our name. The organization of the European Four-in-Hand Championships fits perfectly with our vision to put Equestrian Center Exloo, the province of Drenthe and four-in-hand sport in the Netherlands extra on the map. The Paradriving World Championships could be a perfect addition to this European Championship, as we already receive the paradriving drivers in Exloo every year and we are very passionate about paradriving,” says Lieuwe Koopmans of the organizing committee.

If the European Four-in-hand Championship is assigned to Exloo, the competition areas will be expanded and completely redesigned. The existing marathon obstacles will be partly replaced and moved.

It is not yet known when the FEI will assign the European Championship and World Championship. There are currently no other candidates besides Exloo.
