The Driving Moment of … Fleur van Empelen

The Hoefnet challenge 'My Most Memorable Driving-Moment' resulted in three great winning stories. We would also like to show you the beautiful stories that did not make it to the top three. Below the driving- moment of Fleur van Empelen is described.

Our most morable driving moment of 2022 was the first show of the season, the 2* in Buhl, Germany. We traveled at night due to the warm temperatures, not knowing that the heat will last the entire show. We didn’t know how to deal with such hot weather, because we never experienced it during competitions.

However, we made it through the dressage well, and after the marathon everyone was surprised that such a small pony finished super fit! With compliments of the judges, we were allowed to get back to the stables to care of him immediately. It of course remained a challenge to cool him down with as much water as possible before, during and after driving. It was a real team effort to take the best possible care of our ‘happy athlete’!
