Joaquín Medina in FEI Driving Committee

FEI level 4 Judge from Spain Joaquín Medina García has been appointed as the new member of the FEI Driving Committee. Medina is replacing Miguel Angel Gutierrez Camarillo who has been a member since 2018. The FEI announced the decision after today’s Board meeting at the FEI General Assembly being held in Cape Town (RSA) this weekend.

Joaquín Medina is an FEI judge since 2009, being promoted to the highest level in 2014. He has been appointed as President of the Ground Jury and Member at numerous FEI World and European Championships through the years, most recently at the FEI Driving World Championship for Four-in-Hand in Pratoni del Vivaro (ITA) last September as Foreign Judge. He is also a level 4 Technical Delegate, a level 3 Course Designer and a level 3 Steward in Driving. Besides being a Judge, he is also an FEI Course Director for Judges since 2016. Between 2014 and 2018, Medina had already served on the FEI Driving Committee.

The FEI Driving Committee stated that they would prefer candidates with either Judge or Steward background with very good knowledge of the FEI Driving Rules. Seven candidates applied to fill the seat of the outgoing member. Besides Medina, Boyd Exell (AUS), Fritz Otto-Erley (GER), Lotta Palsson (SWE), Jan Posluszny (POL), Andrea Webb (AUS) and Mark Wentein (BEL) also put their name forward for the position.
