More extra bonus points to be won for four-in-hand drivers

The FEI Board recently approved the FEI Driving World Cup™ Rules for the 2022/2023 season. One of the most important changes is that the more four-in-hand drivers start at a World Cup qualifying competition, the more points can be won.

Qualification

The five bonus points-rule for competitors at CAIO’s and World Championships remain in place. In addition, competitors at European Championships will also receive five bonus points.

New this year is that for all World Cup qualifiers, 1 extra bonus point per Athlete is awarded for each Top 10 Athlete participating, based on the FEI Driving World Ranking List 6 weeks prior to the event.

From this season, the results of no more than two World Cup qualifiers per country can be submitted by an Athlete in support of qualifying for the Series. Before, this was maximum two qualifying competitions from the Athletes’ own country. For example, if you start at three World Cup qualifying competitions in the Netherlands this year, only 2 of the 3 results will count towards the qualification.

Wild cards

If three Wild Cards are allocated at a World Cup leg, one must be allocated to an Athlete from the country where the Leg is held. If only one or two Wild Cards are allocated, they may be freely allocated by the OC.

For the Final, only one Wild Card may be allocated. The Wild Card must be allocated to an Athlete from the country where the Leg is held, if the Host Nation is not represented in the Final.
