Van den Heuvel Carriages: ‘Clients are always welcome!’

The guidelines circumventing the corona virus have had huge consequences for the equestrian world. The driving world itself has been turned on its head with no competitions happening until at least 1 June. Hoefnet spoke to carriage builder Eric van den Heuvel on the consequences of the corona crisis for his world famous company.

Easter Open House cancelled

The annual Easter open house that was planned to be held on 12 and 13 April will not be taking place. The Valkenswaard Carriage Museum has also had to close their doors: “The museum is usually only open by appointment for groups. We have had to cancel all appointments for the foreseeable future.”

Clients welcome

“Our workshop and carriage hall are still open, and clients are welcome to come alone, or with one other person as long as they follow the rules and keep a distance of 1,5 meter apart at all times. The beautiful restored and original antique carriages are definitely worth a visit.”

No Competitions

“Our main complication at the moments is the fact that we are unable to personally deliver any carriages to our many international clients, and they are also not able to come and pick them up. In addition to that, the lack of competitions means that clients aren’t necessarily in a hurry to pick up their carriages either. Luckily we can still facilitate delivery at the moment with a transporter, and we are doing our best to keep our clients happy. Accessories, harness and other articles can always be sent by mail or courier. We are always accessible by phone or email.”

Rested up!

Eric van den Heuvel is trying to see this exceptional crisis in a positive light: “I am definitely more rested up at the moment! Normally we are busy night and day with our work. My hobby is my work.”
