Stockholm: Fredrik Persson wins first competition

The sensational first round of the FEI World Cup Four-in-hand driving was won by wild card Fredrik Persson in front of the home crowd last night. Persson surprised everyone, beating out favourites Boyd Exell and Edouard Simonet.

Not one of the six competitors were able to get around that course designed by Swedish course designer Dan Henriksson without penalties. The new speed box element didn’t seem to give the experienced team drivers any troubles.

Persson was the first to start and managed to get around the course with only one dislodged ball. Exell was not in his usual form and with a knockdown at the second set of cones and also a gate on the bridge crossed the finish line with 20 penalty seconds. The balance of the drivers had their share of troubles with Weber missing the bridge completely on the first try.

On Sunday at 8:45pm the next round of the World Cup is set to take pace where the drivers will once again strive to win those World Cup points.
