Windsor 2019: all horses and ponies fit to compete

While the international media is concentrating on the newborn baby only 2 miles away, Royal Windsor Horse Show started this morning for the drivers with the first horse inspection. The competitors and their grooms had to brave severe rain showers, but all 218 presented horses and ponies were declared fit to compete by the international Ground Jury and the veterinarians.

The pony teams will start in dressage on Thursday from 9am, followed by the horse teams from 10.30am onwards. The horse pairs will enter the arena on Friday morning. The marathon is scheduled on Saturday with 8 beautiful obstacles, designed by Dutch level 4 Course Designer Johan Jacobs (NED).

After the cones on Sunday, six four-in-hand drivers will enter the Main Arena for the first time for an exciting indoor-outdoor competition, the Extreme Driving Class. Top drivers IJsbrand Chardon, Bram Chardon, Koos de Ronde, Boyd Exell, Glenn Geerts and Dan Naprous will take part in this extra class, which is not part of the CAIO competition.
