World Championships Limburg 2021 expecting record number of competitors

From 8-12 September the 20th edition of the World Championships for Horse Pairs is set to take place in Kronenberg, The Netherlands. The organization behind Limburg 2021 is expecting a record number of competitors.

The FEI show schedule is now approved, and the organization is hoping to accept between seven and nine competitors per country. Last year a FEI rule change stipulated that the number of competitors from the host country and visiting countries should be the same. During the last championships in Drebkau 2019 there were 82 competitors representing 24 countries.

“We have the capacity to host 90 pair drivers,” according to Limburg 2021 chairman Nico Rijnbende. “We must of course first see how many countries are prepared to send competitors and then we can decide how many drivers will be allowed per country. We want to give as many drivers as possible the opportunity to compete at this wonderful championship. Certainly, for the Dutch drivers, this will be a unique chance for them to compete on home ground.”

Judges

The international and experienced panel of judges for the championships will be led by Anne Marie Turbé from France. The panel will be completed by Andrew Counsell (Great Britain), Pia Skar (Denmark), Barry Capstick (Ireland) and Jan-Erik Pålsson (Sweden). Jeroen Houterman will be responsible for the course design.

Program

The competition will begin on Wednesday 8 September with the horse inspection followed by the dressage on Thursday the 9th and Friday the 10th of September. On Saturday 11 September the marathon will be driven and then competition will close with the exciting cones on Sunday 12 September.

In addition to the sport, there is a variety of entertainment and features for young and old. A program for school children, a senior’s day, a business day, a Bixie competition and the Liefde Emotie Food Festival can also be found on the grounds of Grandorse.
