Breda: Exell takes the lead

Reigning World Champion Boyd Exell has won the dressage of the CAIO in Breda. Exell scored 34,98 penalty points driving his team of black warm blood geldings. Exell was closely followed by his Dutch opponents IJsbrand Chardon (35,45) and Theo Timmerman (35,81), who have started a neck-to-neck race for the Dutch Championships.

The battle for the Dutch Championships and the CAIO is wide open and Chardon will have to fight for it in tomorrow's marathon to be able to be crowned Dutch Champion in Breda on Sunday for the 25th time in his career.
Koos de Ronde (NED) finished fourth, ahead of Tomas Eriksson (SWE). Eriksson used two new horses in his team and this immediately resulted in a good performance and a well-deserved fifth place in dressage.

The Dutch team is in the lead of the nations competition, Germany and Belgium follow the host nation on over 20 penalty points.
