French National Driving Champions announced

Last weekend, not only the Portuguese and Italian drivers battled it out for the national titles, the French competitors also competed against each other at their National Championships in Lisieux.

The gold medal in the pony singles class was won by Claire Lefort, followed by
Baptiste Dubrulle and Valentine Verna.
Axel Mancaux, followed by, won the national title in the pony pairs class
Karine Poentis and Stephane Toujas who were in a neck-to-neck race for the medals.

Olivier Thiriez was crowned French Champion in the pony four-in-hand class, ahead of Gilles Arriat and Laurent Jelowicki.


The medal winners in the pairs and four-in-hand pony classes will represent France at the World Championships in Pau at the end of this month. Claire Lefort is the only medal winner in the pony singles class who will go to Pau. The other candidates Laetitia Boucher finished sixth in the Championship and Ludovic Huet did not compete and Maxime Maricourt started in the pony four-in-hand class.
Anne Violaine Brisou won the gold in the horse singles class, the silver went to Renaud Vinck and Marion Vignaud took the bronze.
Eve Cadi Verna won the horse pairs championship, ahead of Bernard Pouvreau and Luc Lesourd.
Sebastian Mourier won the four-in-hand Championship with a big gap to silver medallist Benjamin Aillaud and bronze medal winner François Vogel.
