Mezőhegyes: first gold for Germany

Enfado P, the Saxon-Thuringian Heavy Warmblood gelding and Jovanca Marie Kessler from Germany won the gold medal in the 5-year-old horse category at the first FEI World Driving Championships for Young Horses in Mezőhegyes today. The silver medal went to Germany as well. Anni 95, the Saxon-Thuringian Heavy Warmblood mare and William Slater finished on the second place. Hungarian driver Krisztián Németh and Nóniusz 8 Taksony came third and took the bronze medal, which is also the first medal ever for Hungary at a single championship.

The final of the dressage competition for the 6 and 7-year-old horses took place today at the nice arena of the National Stud Farm in Mezőhegyes. In total 10 horses have qualified for the final of the 7-year-old horses. Frodo and Franz Schiltz (LUX) took the first place with a nice score of 7,71 penalties and finished ahead of Austrian driver Rudolf Pirhofer and his Austrian warmblood gelding Bambucca with 7,14 on the second place. Winner of yesterday's qualification, the KWPN horse Dynamo and Arie Dibbits for the Netherlands came third.

In the 6-year-old horses dressage final, the hanoverian mare Partitur 7 and Claus Quist were the best with 8,14 penalties. Bartlomiej Kwiatek finished second and third with his Silesian horses Bazyli and Frezja.

The final combined marathon starts tomorrow at 9.30hrs.
