Axel Olin appointed as trainer of Finnish drivers

Axel Olin (SWE) was appointed as trainer of the Finnish drivers just before Christmas. The sports association has announced this. The first training sessions led by Olin took place from December 15th through the 17th.

Axel Olin (38) has driven international singles, pairs and four-in-hand. Currently the focus is mainly on pair and Four-in-Hand driving, with 22nd place at the European Four-in-Hand Championship in Exloo as the most recent international result. Axel Olin has trained with Boyd Exell, Christer Pålsson, Nicke Pålsson, Tomas Eriksson, Glenn Geerts, Michael Freund and Claudio Fumagalli, among others.

“In the winter I mainly drive single with my horses. I focus on the basics; the pace, the training, and the flexibility through the body. I am happy that I was able to see this basis again during the first training with the Finnish team,” said Olin.

Talvikki Järvinen

“The first time with a new trainer is always exciting, but at the same time very interesting,” says Talvikki Järvinen. “I don’t think it is necessary to reinvent the wheel in our sport, but that we must use the existing knowledge and skills in the right way. The enthusiasm of the Finnish drivers about Axel as a new trainer was palpable.”

“I liked that Axel focuses on straightness and relaxation. In all the years that I have been part of the Finnish national team, Axel gave me clear homework for the first time,” says Järvinen.
