Fábiánsebestyén: Hungary on their way to goldThe weather conditions today in Fábiánsebestyén were perfect and the Kinizi Horse Park welcomed many enthusiastic spectators for the exciting marathon competition. The conditions for the horses however were heavy. The footing was heavy and slippery, caused by the rain fall from the past days. But the OC had done everything to improve the conditions so all horses came fit at the finish. The Hungarian drivers performed extremely well and was won by reigning World Champion Vilmos Lázár, followed by József Dobrovitz jr. and the best foreign driver Sandro Koalick on the third place.
Title defender Vilmos Lázár has taken over the lead in the standings, in which he has created a gap of 6 penalty points to his younger brother Zoltán, who is on silver. Dressage winner Claudio Fumagalli (ITA) has dropped to bronze. The differences between the numbers three to seven in the individual standings are extremely small, which will result in an exciting finale tomorrow in the cones competition.
The Hungarian team has taken over the lead in the standings and are close to securing another gold team medal. Italy dropped to the second place despite the strong performances of Fumagalli and Jozsef Dibak. Third team member Francesco Aletti Montano was assisted on the carriage by three times World Champion Boyd Exell but unfortunately tipped over in the second obstacle.
The German team is currently on bronze. The Swiss team has moved up to the fourth place thanks to the 4th place of Bruno Widmer and the 5th place of Beat Schenk in the marathon.
