Lipica 2022: Hungary II in the lead of the Donau Alp Cup after marathon

The weather conditions were excellent in Lipica today, where the 46 Competitors were treated to a very nice marathon, designed by Hungarian World Championship Course Designer Gábor Fintha. After some rain in the morning, it remained cloudy but dry during the remaining of the day. With the good results of Martin Hölle and Marcell Dani, Team Hungary II has taken over the lead in the Donau Alp Cup standings.

3* Classes

The marathon was won by Switzerland’s Beat Schenk, who was closely followed by his compatriot Bruno Widmer. Schenk’s results moved Team Switzerland I to the second place, while Bruno Widmer’s performance put Switzerland II in the third place.

Martin Hölle has kept his lead in the individual standings and has a seven-point advantage to David Hötsch from Austria. Beat Schenk has moved up to the third place and is less than one point behind Hötsch which will result in an exciting cones competition on Sunday.

Vinzenz Dobretsberger won the marathon in the 3* single horse class and is in the lead of the standings, with little advantage to Martin Stötzer with his two horses.

After winning the dressage, pony pair driver Karl Schiffer also won the marathon and made the gap between him and Gerfried Peternell even bigger.

Karin Huser won the marathon with Jolie Babu and drove Unity Little Jo to the second place in the pony single class.
