Theo Timmerman changes tactics

Dutch four-in-hand driver Theo Timmerman has changed his tactics for the FEI World Cup Driving competition in Leizpig this weekend. Timmerman will start with a completely different team of horses, which he borrows from his Dutch colleague Edwin Spek.


“With this team I really have a chance to end in the top three, they are so quick,” says Timmerman who successfully drove Spek’s team for the first time last Sunday in a national indoor driving competition. “My own team is doing good, but my horses are rather big which means I do not have a chance to achieve the current high level in the World Cup competitions. Edwin’s horses are small, very fast and turn very easily.”
The team exists of two KWPN horses, a New Forest and a Welsh horse. Theo Timmerman will compete with this team in the FEI World Cup competitions in Leipzig and in Bordeaux (5 and 6 February).

Timmerman is currently in 9th position in the standings, but has two more competitions to go. The Top 6 drivers of the standings after Bordeaux qualify for the Final in Geneva on 16 and 17 April.

In Leipzig , Timmerman competes against Jiri Nesvacil, Jozsef Dobrovitz, Christoph Sandmann, Daniel Wurgler and IJsbrand Chardon, who starts with a wild card.
The warm up competition is scheduled on Friday 22 January at 23.50 hrs., the World Cup competition will take place on Sunday 24 January at 12.55 hrs.
