Pony drivers start online petition against pony measurement

The German pony four-in-hand driver Steffen Brauchle and his sister in law Anna Genkinger have started an online petition against measuring ponies. They would like that the required measurement of driving ponies be abolished.

The drafters of this petition find that the FEI pony drivers have more and more costs. That is, according to them, no stimulus for international driving sport. Not only the measuring of the ponies, but also the registration of the ponies and drivers is becoming more and more expensive. Further, they find that it doesn’t fit with the goal of animal welfare to make a long trip (sometimes hundreds of kilometers), just for a measurement. That is why in several countries there are no mandatory FEI measuring possibilities.

You can find the petition here and how you can participate.

The FEI normally only handles affairs that are brought forward via the National Federations, so it is wait and see as to what this petition will do. The Hoefnet editors are curious to see what other pony drivers think about the measurement requirement. Are you an international pony driver? And will you share your thoughts with us?
